We were unlucky enough to get the flu....both of them.
Two weeks ago we all suffered through the stomach bug that was going around. Everyone got hit pretty hard and I ended up in the ER with dehydration and extremely low potassium levels.
Lucky us, just a week after recovering, the regular flu hit our house. The pattern was exactly the same...Daddy, Kenzie, Klara...and then Mommy. I think God set it up this way on purpose so I could play nurse to everyone before succumbing to symptoms.
Poor Klara was the one who headed to the doctor this time with a fever of 103.5, but since she was within the first 24 hours of symptoms and because of her age she was prescribed Tamiflu (you've probably seen all the commercials for it on TV.)
We picked up what was apparently the last of the Tamiflu in our entire city at Walgreens and she is still taking it.
We all seem to finally be on the mend, besides some residual sniffles and coughs. 2013 certainly hasn't gotten off to a pleasant start in our home. Praying that we are healthy for the rest of the year after paying our flu dues!
Also, I posted this screenshot to my Instagram this weekend and got a lot of questions about it, so I thought I'd share...
This is an iPhone app (I'm not sure if they make it for Android as well, but I'd be happy to check for you.) It is called Baby Connect developed by Seacloud Software, and I think it was originally intended to be for babysitters/nannies/daycare providers because it gives the option of e-mailing the day/week's entries to the parents, but I have always used it for my own kids. I don't typically keep track of their every diaper and nap etc, but when they are sick this app is a LIFESAVER!
I use it to keep track of their medicine doses (it even allows you to set a timer until the next one), their fluid intake, wet diapers for Klara, symptoms, etc.
It can be overwhelming, especially with more than 1 child (and when you're sick yourself, or waking in the middle of the night to administer fever meds) trying to remember everything for the kids, so this is a huge help. If anyone wants more info, send me an e-mail and I'd be happy to send you the link.
Hope you all have a happy and HEALTHY week!
